The term ‘Natural Intelligence’ will be discussed.
The term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ will be discussed by explaining how machines take data(text/image etc.) as input and process it to generate desired result.

Activity: An activity would be conducted in which pictures of some animals will be given to students. They have to identify and write down the ‘label’ and ‘features’ of each picture given.

Topic: Areas of Artificial Intelligence

Description: Areas of artificial intelligence like feature extraction, edge detection, image processing and natural language processing will be discussed to make the students aware of the process of how the machines think, sense, act and take decisions on its own.

Suggested Steps:

Brain storming session would be conducted to check previous knowledge of students about labels and features.
Concept of feature extraction will be discussed in the classroom.
Discussion on how a machine detects the edge of any shape will be conducted.
Concept of pixels and resolution will be discussed.
Activity: A worksheet will be provided to children in which they have to detect the edge of a star by following the instructions given int the worksheet. Reference worksheet :
Discussion on how a machine uses lines to detect a shape will be conducted.
Activity: A worksheet with a picture of any object (car/ animal etc.) will be given to children and they will be asked to look at the image and draw various shapes they see – triangles, circles, rectangles. Reference material:
