NLP is very interesting for the students to consider when using text.  Younger students are very interested when learning to type how a range of useful words are predicted for them with the correct spelling or how when they speak that the speech is changed into text.

I like the idea of students creating word clouds with associated topic words.  Students have done something similar when creating facts on an endangered animals and used this as a way of representing data.

Using google searches and noticing predicted suggestions is a  familiar concept.  Collecting data in tables of associated words would work well in class.  I can see how ‘cognimates’ is a great tool but at the moment I wouldn’t have time to use it in my Digital Technologies program or promote it to other teachers in the school.
