I’ve been collating interesting applications of machine learning for a while now.
My favourite ones are:
- OpenAI training a simulated model of a robot hand in lots of different physics environments, and then it actually works in the real world!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4O8pojMF0w
- DALL-E, which can generate an image from a text description. It’s like Google Image Search, but instead of finding images on the internet it makes them all up! https://openai.com/blog/dall-e/
- Also OpenAI – machine learning (I think using PPO?), where the agents get so good at the game that they learn how to glitch the physics and “cheat” at it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu56xVlZ40M
